The city is eco-centric and has a tram system.
There were lots of walk-able areas where there are no cars allowed.
Many people were either walking or riding bikes for transportation.
The architecture is beautiful and there's a lot of cobblestone streets.

Bakery, dessert items, coffee, and meat!

Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany is known as the capital of the Black Forest. (Schwarzwald)
The Black Forest is named this because the forest appears black due to how thick the trees are.
We arrived in Freiburg im Breisgau in the late afternoon/early evening.
We were in Germany for about 4 days all together.
First night and day, we explored the city taking in the architecture!
Lots of shops and bakery's to explore.
I saw some iconic clocktowers and the famous cathedral in the square!
We explored the cathedral and the city square.
The square had various shops where you could get souvenirs like hand crafted cuckoo clocks! The square also had pop-up vendors that would start setting up in the AM.
I saw a coffee vendor, meat vendor, cheese vendor, and a flower vendor among many others.
We walked through the city en route to the Black Forest! 🌲
We explored an observation tower called Aussichtsturm Schlossberg! (Schlossberg Observation Tower)
We continued hiking in the Black Forest and made our way to the Friedrichsturm observation deck. It is so pretty, you can see the surrounding mountains and the city in the valley. 🥹😍
Next, we started on our way to Ruin Zähringer Burg (Ruin of Zähringer Castle) ☀️ 🌲 ☁️
We made it to Ruin Zähringer Burg! (Ruin of Zähringer Castle) ⛫
Meandered out of the Black Forest and into the upper part of Freiburg im Breisgau.
We went to Zähringer Bäckerei and got Black Forest cake and other bakery treats! 🍰
